Meet The Owner

My love and connection to animals is something I’ve had since birth. Even as an adult, if someone is looking for me, the first question is always, “Where’s the dog or cat? That’s where she’ll be!” Yes, that’s where you’ll find me—LOL!

I helped my mom rescue my first dog at age 4. Oreo Blackbow Hart lived to be 19 years old! After six years of volunteering at high-intake shelters like DACC (Detroit), field outreach with The Karens, and many other rescues, I found myself heartbroken and had to walk away. But how could I turn my passion for caring for animals into a career? That’s when Pet Service from the Hart was born.

With my deep love for animals and helping those in need, I wanted a way to do both. At 40, I was burnt out and broken from my high-producing career as a recruiter in Corporate America. I took a risk, quit, and waited tables at a seafood joint while figuring out my next move.

I went to college later in life and, at 26, wrote a business plan for a dog daycare. Back in the 2010s, I got lots of laughs and backlash for the idea—ironic, right? I earned a BA in Business with a major in Marketing.
